![]() Memory speed on the other hand seems quite tame, considering all the other GDDR6 RTX cards are running easily at 14 GT/s stock. The earlier Turing GPUs in the GeForce RTX cards have all hit their limits right around 2000MHz, so I wasn't sure how much more I could get. Asus sent a relatively heavily overclocked card, and while the official boost clock is 1890MHz, I saw peak clockspeeds already hitting 2025MHz. ![]() Let's talk a bit more about overclocking. So this test will give Nvidia's latest GPU a bit of an advantage over the other 'reference' cards I've tested, but the RX 590, 580, and 570 are all factory overclocked models, and I expect plenty of models will offer nearly the same level of performance as this Asus Strix card, only at a lower price point. It's also possible to set the card at Nvidia's reference clocks, but VBIOS differences likely mean it will still run a bit faster, plus the cooling should help it hit higher boost clocks. ![]() Overclocking is possible of course, and it's something I'll look at in more depth over the next week. I had limited time to test for the GTX 1660 Ti launch, unfortunately, so these initial results are at the factory stock clocks. You can change between two performance modes at the flip of a switch, and there's also a "mute" button that will immediately disable all the RGB lighting if you desire. It's honestly overdesigned for a 120W TDP GPU, with an 8-pin PEG connector and a massive cooler, which means lower temperatures and noise levels. ![]() You get triple fans, addressable RGB lighting, dual BIOS, and a factory overclock to 1890MHz for the boost clock (1530MHz base clock). It's priced at $329, a stone's throw from the RTX 2060, but it's also the kitchen sink approach. Asus was the first AIB partner to get us a GTX 1660 Ti sample, just in time for the launch, which is what we're looking at today.Īsus sent its halo card: the ROG Strix GTX 1660 Ti O6G. We know there are many GTX 1660 Ti models in the works from the AIB (Add-In Board) partners, running the usual gamut of reference clocks to uber-clocked models. That's typical of the lower tier cards from both AMD and Nvidia, though it comes with a catch. More on that in a moment.Īs far as the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti cards go, Nvidia isn't providing a reference design this round-there's no Founders Edition. The GTX 1660 Ti does drop the memory speed down to 12Gbps (compared to 14Gbps on the various RTX cards), which makes me wonder just how much memory overclocking headroom remains. Turing GPUs are manufactured using TSMC's 12nm FinFET process, and so far all of the GPUs use GDDR6 memory. But you do get the rest of the Turing architecture updates, including support for variable rate shading, simultaneous INT and FP operations, rapid FP16 packed math, and improvements in the cache hierarchy. It also brings back the GTX branding, which is probably all for the best as ray-tracing on hardware below the RTX 2060 level doesn't make a lot of sense right now. Instead, Nvidia ends up with a smaller and more affordable GPU. In their place you get… well, actually, you don't get anything. The newest addition to the Turing family ends up being quite the departure from previous models, as the RT and Tensor cores that have been at the heart of the GeForce RTX story are gone. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. 7 For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins. 4 He did this so that the just requirement of the law would be fully satisfied for us, who no longer follow our sinful nature but instead follow the Spirit.ĥ Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. 6 So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. Life in the SpiritĨ So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. 2 And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death. 3 The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. ![]() Will we choose to depend upon the Holy Spirit (living in all who believe Him) in all areas of our life? As the Holy Spirit did for the Lord Jesus Christ during His life on earth, He will also enable us to live a new life of love and obedience. With Christ, His Spirit will enable us to begin to live for Him and with Him. Without Christ, no changes that we seek to make will be effective. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin.Īfter reading through verse 7, it reveals that the answer to our struggle lies in Christ. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me. 24 Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? 25 Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. I don’t want to do what is wrong, but I do it anyway. 20 But if I do what I don’t want to do, I am not really the one doing wrong it is sin living in me that does it.Ģ1 I have discovered this principle of life-that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong. 22 I love God’s law with all my heart. 23 But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind. I want to do what is right, but I can’t. 19 I want to do what is good, but I don’t. Instead, I do what I hate. 16 But if I know that what I am doing is wrong, this shows that I agree that the law is good. 17 So I am not the one doing wrong it is sin living in me that does it.ġ8 And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. ![]() The trouble is with me, for I am all too human, a slave to sin. 15 I don’t really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don’t do it. Orbital trips are very much the second phase of space tourism Blue Origin and Virgin Galactic are only capable of taking people to the edge of space, not into orbit. It’s probably no spoiler to say that Resurgence ropes in a couple major figures from the Trek universe, one even voiced by their original actor. And mercifully, unlike in Telltale games, there’s no intrusive chyron blaring “SHE WILL REMEMBER THAT” every time you make a choice. ![]() As in Telltale titles past, your decisions – from minor things like whether to laugh at a fellow officer’s joke, to major things like which defensive tactic to adopt – all carry consequences, the game quietly tracking everything you do. How the crew – and, more specifically, you, as Rydek/Diaz – respond to these challenges defines the narrative arc in both big and small ways. Meanwhile, a tenuous peace between two alien civilizations – both disappointingly lame new additions to the ever-growing population of Trek species – is at risk of breaking down, leading to all-out war. The Resolute needs to be shipshape soon, in order to investigate a mysterious “space storm” that threatens the galaxy. When the game begins, the Resolute is undergoing repairs (ugh) after a devastating incident in which several dozen crew members, including the previous First Officer, died. In Star Trek: Resurgence, players alternate between control of two characters: First Officer Jara Rydek and Petty Officer Carter Diaz, one a new appointment, the other a long-serving member of the Resolute crew. The spirit of Telltale lives on in Resurgence, with its similar choice-based, narrative-heavy, and only occasionally quicktime-event-happy gameplay and general approach to storytelling. On the gaming front, Resurgence marks the return of a coterie of game developers best known for their work at Telltale Studios, the (sadly now defunct) gaming studio which produced some of the best choose-your-own-adventure video games ever made. On the Trek front, there has never been more on-screen or in the works, from the celebrated and deeply nostalgic final season of Picard to the upcoming Section 31 film starring newly-minted Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh. Resurgence is an appropriate name on a number of levels. Resolute could have actually carried an entire show, but for the dozen or so hours we get to spend with them, there’s a lot to like. I’m not entirely convinced that Commander Jara Rydek, Petty Officer Carter Diaz, and the rest of the crew of the U.S.S. Resurgence has the look and the sound of the best Trek era – seriously, try not to get goosebumps when the familiar transporter sound goes off – and, at times, manages to feel like the lost season of a Trek series that never was.
